He wants a MAC for his designer tools - but all other software would need to run on Windows. I need to support a Windows installation because the designer needs to use our standard software too (Outlook, Office, Lotus Notes, etc. Over all I do not see the problem with letting the mac be on the network.

I now run windows 10 in boot camp and seldom boot to mac but when I do I can tell you the usb Ethernet tends to disconnect when the mac sleeps and wifi kicks in when it wakes and I have to pull the usb and replug to get the Ethernet working again. I blow away my windows 10 vm when it went RTM so I can not test that for you. I do not remember it asking if I want to attach it only to windows I know when I plug in other usb devices it does but not the network. I have a mac and a usb Ethernet adapter that is also a usb hub.
